Hi I'm Dr. Doug
I chose this name because I actually
did complete a Doctor of Ministry. As
well as a BS electrical engineering, MBA, and Master of Theology. I spent a lot
of money and time pursuing these degrees. To conclude that I only began my
learning. I’m like Socrates, “I know nothing”, and I realize the limits of what
I can know and understand.
Yet, as an individual trained in logic and reasoning, the things
of God are often challenging. My first instinct is to overanalyze and attempt to
quantify everything. But how do you do that for spiritual matters? It is
impossible to understand an all-powerful and infinite being. Because human
reasoning and understanding have limitations. But God is infinite and
understands all.
I suggest that humanity gain more insights of God by revelation
from the Holy Spirit as time unfolds. Just as there are new scientific
discoveries there are new spiritual discoveries as well. I anticipate that
those who disagree with this position will probably say something to the extent
, that God does not change. In response I will say true, I agree with that. My
agreement is based on the belief that God exists outside time and space, so
there are no external stimulations which would cause God to change. Unlike us,
we’re subject to time, gravitational forces, aging, and physical deterioration.
What I propose that as humanity evolve from social and cultural
perspectives over time, and God gives us
more understanding of what is relevant for our era.
Personally, I don't view Christianity as this static religion. The
Spirit enlivens and brings new insights for the body of believers. Sure, God
does not change, but I propose that our understanding of God is limited and
partial. So, we gain more clarity as time progresses, and the Sprit gives us
more clarity. To paraphrase Jesus, I" there is more you need to know but
you cannot understand it now."
More to say in future posts, this one is intended to introduce myself
and give you a flavor of my theological stance.
More to come much Peace and Love
